Any production downtime can result in substantial financial loss. In 2018, 44% of respondents identified accelerating production pace as their top challenge. Among those who use desktop automation systems, 43% indicated an urgent need to speed up production. Typically, when there is a need for higher production volume, applying desktop automation systems allows robots to dispense fluids in batches instead of one-on-one, significantly boosting production speed. Respondents identified production speed as a pain point for automatic dispensing systems. One potential reason is that dispensing system manufacturers intentionally design the robot's movement speed to be slow to avoid exceeding safety thresholds and eliminate the need for them to be enclosed in protective systems. The latest desktop dispensing robots are designed to shorten the dispensing cycle. These robots use ball screw drives rather than belt drives, enabling more precise and faster positioning. Some models can achieve a position repeat accuracy of ±0003 mm.
