The fifth day of the fifth month of the lunar calendar every year is the Dragon Boat Festival, which is one of the four traditional festivals in China, and its origin has many sayings:
1. the character commemoration theory, mainly including: 1, commemorating Qu Yuan said, the most widely circulated is to commemorate the patriotic poet Qu Yuan, legend has it that in the Warring States period, the poet of the State of Chu jumped into the Miluo River on the fifth day of the first month of May to commit suicide, the people in order not to let the fish and shrimp in the river eat his body, but also for his soul not to be hungry in the river, people wrapped food with rice dumpling leaves and threw it into the river, and then formed the custom of eating rice dumplings, and the customs of the Dragon Boat Festival also include rowing dragon boats, wearing incense sachets, tying colorful ropes, hanging wormwood, and drinking male yellow wine.
2. In memory of Wu Zixu, he said: Wu Zixu cherished his family and country, but he was framed by a traitor, and died in order to prove his innocence, and his body was thrown into the river on May 5, so there are rumors that the Dragon Boat Festival is to commemorate Wu Zixu.
3. In memory of the filial daughter Cao E, it is said that according to legend, Cao E's father drowned in the river and did not see the body for several days, when the filial daughter Cao E was only 14 years old and cried along the river day and night. After seventeen days, he also threw himself into the river on the fifth day of May, and five days later took out his father's body, which became a myth, so it is said that the Dragon Boat Festival is also a day to commemorate the filial daughter Cao E.
4. Commemorating Jie Zi Tui said that Jie Zi Tui is the protagonist of the legend of the origin of the Cold Food Festival and the Qingming Festival, but it is also believed that the origin of the Dragon Boat Festival is related to Jie Zi Tui. According to Cai Yong's piano music work "Qin Exercise" during the Eastern Han Dynasty, the Dragon Boat Festival was given to commemorate the ancestor Jie Zitui.
Second, originated from the evil moon and evil day of the fifth of May, the ancient people in the north of the Han Dynasty believed that the fifth of May was the "evil moon, evil day", and there was a custom of "not lifting the son of May", that is, the baby born on the fifth of May can not be raised by either a male or a female, and once raised, the male harms the father and the female harms the mother, so there are related cultural activities, forming quite characteristic customs such as "avoiding the five poisons" and "hiding from the dragon boat day".
In 1963, he proposed in his book "The History of Dragon Boat Rituals" that the Dragon Boat Festival originated in ancient times, the three generations converged into rivers, the Qin and Han expanded into rivers, and the Tang and Song dynasties became lakes and seas.
According to the "Book of Rites" compiled by the Western Han rite scholar Dai Shengshou, the custom of "bathing in the orchid" was already in the Zhou Dynasty; The ancients picked bluegrass in May, and the custom of bathing in bluegrass soup and detoxifying was prevalent.
Fifth, Goujian exercised the water army said that the Song Dynasty Gao Cheng's "Records of Things" published an article that the Dragon Boat Festival originated from the Spring and Autumn period when the Yue king Goujian practiced the water army in Japan.
