STEP Smart Elevator Cloud Project Won The First Prize Of Invention And Entrepreneurship Award Innovation Award

The 25th National Invention Exhibition -- the Belt and Road and BRICS Skill Development and Technological Innovation Competition, which lasted for three days, came to an end in Foshan, Guangdong province, on the afternoon of December 12.  The invention of "Intelligent Elevator Cloud System Research and Development and Industrial Application based on industrial Internet Architecture" completed by Shanghai STEP Electric Co., Ltd. won the first prize of "Invention and Entrepreneurship Award Innovation Award". Wang Peng was invited to attend the award ceremony as the representative of the award.



When Wang Peng received the heavy award certificate, the whole heart is boiling hot, "From the research and development in 2012 to the industrialization in 2018, the project has devoted six years of the team's efforts, experienced a process of constantly surpassing ourselves, and finally established the intelligent elevator control and elevator cloud in our country in the international discourse."



The project relies on STEP's strong talent force and nearly 20 years of profound accumulation of elevator control technology, and uses advanced blockchain cloud platform technology to provide customers with three highlight functions: parts certification, elevator operation feature diagnosis and elevator monitoring wall. Blockchain technology ensures the sharing and immutability of key data in the whole life cycle of the elevator, thus ensuring the security of elevator data. It has put forward five innovative and original technical solutions, and the overall technology is in the international advanced level, and some technologies are in the international leading.


Innovation at a glance


No.1 invented the intelligent elevator communication protocol based on the industrial Internet architecture, developed the security protection device that does not disclose the elevator communication protocol of the elevator manufacturer, and realized the reliable certification of accessories.


No.2 has developed an elevator cloud service platform based on cloud computing, realizing distributed collection and cloud management of elevator operation and environmental data, and creating an enterprise monitoring wall that presents elevator ride status and maintenance information.


No.3 Developed the online detection and diagnosis system of elevator vibration and the intermittent vibration detection technology of elevator, and formed the product EOCD that can effectively diagnose the operation characteristics of elevator.


No.4 developed the elevator intelligent perception and operation and maintenance service cloud platform based on blockchain technology, and proposed the service-oriented cross-domain heterogeneous data integration and sharing technology.


No.5 developed an elevator cloud system. The operation data storage and management receiving database of different types of elevators in multi-working environment is designed, and the real-time data is simultaneously screened and analyzed through blockchain technology.


The project has been granted 20 invention patents, 12 software Copyrights, 37 academic papers and 1 international monograph. At present, the research results have been successfully applied in many elevator companies, which has played a strong support for ensuring the safety of elevator data, ensuring the maintenance interests, ensuring the reliable source of parts, and ensuring the interests of parts, with remarkable social benefits.

Q What were the considerations for establishing the project at that time? Are there some difficulties in the research process?


The project approval comprehensively considers the background of the rapid development of Internet and big data in China and the practical needs of the elevator industry, gives full play to the advantages of enterprise technology, elevator control products and elevator maintenance cloud service platform, actively promotes the implementation of "elevator cloud + maintenance" in elevator enterprises, and improves the intelligent level and maintenance level of elevator. In addition, the demand for new urbanization construction such as intelligent elevator and network maintenance is gradually increasing. Providing intelligent and network technical services for elevator, serving elevator manufacturing, existing elevator transformation, elevator maintenance and closely connecting with intelligent buildings is an urgent need for future market development.


The study did encounter some difficulties. For example, there are challenges in the reliable operation test of the key technologies involved in this project at the product level, but after the accumulation of field data and the research and development team's efforts, we quickly solved these problems.


Q The completion unit of the project includes Zhejiang University. What role do you think the combination of industry, university and research has played in achieving the project results?


STEP has established a long-term cooperative relationship with Zhejiang University on talent training, science and technology research and development, and the two sides are closely integrated to accurately connect scientific research with market demand and accelerate the transformation of scientific and technological achievements, so that they can finally enter the market.


Q What is the composition of our team?


The team has jointly trained 13 doctoral students and 36 master students. These high-level technical personnel will play an important role in the rapid development of STEP elevator, industrial robot and intelligent manufacturing.


Q How is the elevator cloud product launched by STEP based on this research result performing in the market so far?


The elevator cloud platform and terminal products involved in this achievement have been officially released in April 2021, and have served nearly 30,000 elevators from more than 100 customers up to now; The involved intelligent elevator communication protocol technology based on industrial Internet architecture, block chain technology, elevator control loop vibration online detection and diagnosis technology have been used in nearly 2000 elevators of more than 60 customers, and obtained good market application feedback.


Q What is the value of the project for the development of the elevator industry in our country?


First of all, it helps the elevator maintenance timeliness, improve the maintenance quality, and effectively avoid the elevator maintenance flow into a form. With the support of elevator cloud related technology, elevator maintenance personnel can quickly and accurately troubleshoot elevator faults and accurately repair, which is also conducive to improving the technical level of maintenance personnel and promoting the healthy development of elevator maintenance.


Secondly, it can improve users' satisfaction with elevator quality and maintenance quality, and finally form brand effect.


Thirdly, the intelligent supervision of service elevators is helpful to the intelligent supervision of elevators by regulatory authorities and plays a positive role in the guarantee of people's livelihood.
